Pack Governance & Bylaws

IBB Authorized Archive v1.0

A Pack is more than a social group; it is a governed entity. This chapter outlines the IBB framework for establishing, maintaining, and—if necessary—dissolving a pack dynamic while maintaining community safety.

The Universal Law of Consent

While every pack may have its own lore and internal hierarchy, all IBB-recognized packs must bow to the Universal Law of Consent. No pack-specific rule or "lore" ever overrides an individual's right to use a safe word or exit a scene.

1. Structuring Your Pack

The IBB recommends a "Check and Balance" system for pack leadership to prevent burnout or abuse of power:

  • The Alpha/Lead: Responsible for vision, event planning, and final decisions on pack membership.
  • The Den Parent: A non-leadership role focused on internal health, conflict resolution, and ensuring every member's "Human" needs are met.
  • The Scribe: Manages the pack’s digital presence and ensures all members are correctly linked to the IBB Registry.

2. Writing Your Pack Bylaws

To be officially "IBB Sanctioned," a pack must have a written set of bylaws that include:

  1. Vetting Requirements: How new members are introduced and tested.
  2. Trial Periods: A mandatory 30-day "probationary" period for new pups to ensure they fit the pack dynamic.
  3. Exit Strategy: A clear, no-shame process for a member to leave the pack.

3. Dispute Resolution (The "Pack Council")

When conflicts arise, the IBB framework requires a Cooling Off Period. Members are encouraged to step away from the mosh and discuss the issue as humans. If a dispute cannot be resolved internally, the pack leadership may request a neutral mediator from the IBB Board.

Packs vs. The Brigade

The Brigade is the Infrastructure; the Pack is the Family. We provide the tools and safety standards, but the heart and culture of your pack are yours to build.
